ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of Business Development Manager, Fly Ash, consists of maintaining and growing the working relationships with Utilities under contract and developing strong ties with other potential Utilities for the direct marketing of high quality coal fly ash in support of our cement footprint. A successful candidate will possess a strong customer relations focus and organizationally driven mind to coordinate our complex business model. Position involves travel as needed to meet with customers and attend business unit and district meetings.

Position Location: This position will work remotely from a home office and will require 30% - 40% national travel.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Lead and support the company’s journey towards a world class safety culture in all aspects of the business.

  • Specifically, drive awareness for safety issues around utility sites and push for change.

  • Maximize profitability of the current fly ash portfolio by collaborating with Sales and Distribution teams.

  • Following adoption of SAP, drive product line towards process improvement in billing and truck loading.

  • Develop solid relationships and work closely with key internal personnel across sales, distribution, quality, finance and procurement teams to foster a winning environment.

  • Assure site compliance with contractual obligations at all Utility sites as well as local, state and federal regulations as it related to the management and marketing of coal ash.

  • Advise Holcim management on key strategic issues as it relates to the internal / external demand, and overall supply outlook in the industry. Provide tactical short term and long term strategies.

  • Maintain an understanding of current and upcoming technologies for fly ash treatment and beneficiation; and other technologies which hold the potential to expand CCB utilization and enhance the LH portfolio of opportunities to grow value to current and prospective utility clients.

  • Creates clear business strategy for key accounts (e.g. increase share, account penetration, protect existing base, etc.)

  • Develops, maintains and strengthens customer relationships in the utility sector.

  • Understands how to deliver value to customers (Performance Innovations if applicable) and uses value selling strategies

  • Identifies and understands competitive landscape

  • Promotes the use of Holcim products in the territory

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

  • Close collaboration with Sales GMs around supply, demand, pricing and market dynamics.

  • Strong working relationship with GeoCycle and Purchasing teams to evaluate new opportunities and targets.

  • Detailed involvement in the logistics and sourcing decisions to maximize profitability.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Business, Engineering, or equivalent degree

Required Work Experience: 7+ years in with customer support experience in a B2B environment, construction materials or related industry preferred

Travel Requirements: 30-40% national travel required

  • Initial qualification - Able to qualify the ‘best’ opportunities through assessing how close the match is between customer needs and our offerings

  • Understanding the competitive landscape - Able to understand the impact and implications for Holcim, of marketing activity by our competitors and, the way they position their offerings, to our prospects and customers
