ABOUT THE ROLE

The Temporary Quarry Technician position is a multi-skilled position responsible for the mining operation.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

  • Practice and promote safety in such way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate PPE.

  • Exercise and encourage core values including but not limited to; developing self and coaching others by inspiration and empowerment.

  • Operation of mobile equipment required to mine rock (For example: Rock drills, wheel loaders, bulldozer, haul trucks and water trucks, motor grader, fuel tanker, hydraulic rock breaker).

  • Perform mechanical maintenance check-outs, troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and do minor preventative maintenance on mobile equipment.

  • Monitor and react to quality issues (For example: sample drill holes, monitor quality feedback information & adjust mining pattern as necessary).

  • Maintain documentation, plan and organize work, participate in various team activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required Education: High School diploma/GED Required Experience: 1 year of heavy equipment operating in a heavy manufacturing environment.

  • Position will operate on a two shift basis and incumbents will predominantly work these two shifts.

  • Ideal candidates would have a high mechanical aptitude and experience operating mobile equipment.

  • Ability to work in a team based environment.

  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment for at least 1 year preferred.
