ABOUT THE ROLE:

Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Loader Operator/Plant Operator to support operations at the Quarry located in Front Royal Virginia. This position will be responsible for monitoring equipment, operating control systems, processing samples, testing samples, and utilizing computers for data entry daily. The Plant Operator will also be required to follow all safety policies and perform their duty in a safe manner. Also this position requires the ability to handle various heavy equipment with precision and care. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of skill in operating different types of machinery and vehicles. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Operate the Loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.

  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.

  • Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area.

  • Operate Loader controls to lower and tilt bucket and drive forward to force bucket into bulk material; Move lever to raise and tilt bucket when filled, or to dump material.

  • Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.

  • Operate Loader on public or private roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings.

  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the Loader.

  • Operate other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred

  • Previous experience in heavy lifting and heavy equipment operation

  • Mechanical knowledge for equipment repair and maintenance

  • Knowledge road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements.

  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions

  • Ability to work in loud noise environments

  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronics

  • Operate the equipment in a safe and productive manner

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. on a consistent basis

  • Customer Oriented - Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures.

  • Responsible - Ability to be held accountable or answerable for one’s conduct.

  • Decision Making - Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
